The Russian economy is a **developing/emerging** upper-middle-income economy with **GDP** **US$1.862 trillion (nominal level; 2023)** and **GDP per capita** **13,006 US dollars (nominal; 2023)**. The country's economy is highly dependent on natural resources such as oil, gas and minerals. Russia's industrial structure has shifted from large investments in manufacturing and agriculture to market services, oil, gas and mining. The country is a member of several trade organizations such as WTO, BRICS, EAEU, CIS, GECF, APEC and G20.
According to a recent article, Russia's economy grew by more than 3% in 2023, which is faster than the growth rate of Western countries such as the UK. The growth was driven by rising oil prices and increased exports to China and India.
